Date: Tuesday 17th of January 2012 – Christmas Party

Time: 7:30pm sharp start (7:00pm for auction lots)

Place: The Harmonie German Club - 49 Jerrabomberra Avenue, Narrabundah

Last Meeting:

Last month we had the Christmas party which again was very successful including the drawing of the major raffle so again thanks for your support there.

We would like to thank Lachlan from ACT Aquariums for donating the tank that went in the end, Ben from Age of Aquariums for the donation of prize pool and MJay from Canberra Aquatics for his ongoing support of the club by his kind donations to the raffles of his UP-Aqua products.

Please don’t hesitate to get goods from our sponsors in the first instance.

If you have not renewed now is the time as your membership HAS EXPIRED. Remember that you MUST be a member in order to sell at the auctions AND to buy food from the trade table.

PLEASE NOTE: THE MEETING NOW STARTS AT 7:30PM. This is due to us running out of time. This will continue until further notice.

What’s On:

This month Alex is going on his ongoing fishroom build project part 1.

This is his life’s work and will be his crowning glory once it is complete.

Also the new breeders challenges are starting up this month so start getting your forms in to start wrapping so some great awards at the end of the year. If you have any questions about it please don’t hesitate to email the club or talk to Tim Green. This is great initiative for club and the hobby so please get behind it.

PLEASE IF YOU PLAN TO DRINK, DON’T DO IT EXCESS. We would hate to have to evening ruined or awkward for other members.

Other info:

We have gained access to several copies of "Guppy" The CAS (Canberra Aquarium Society) magazine back in the 60's and older "Tank Talk"

editions thanks to the kind generosity of Rene Jez.

And all the wonderful, usual stuff:

Library

We have a few new books and magazines so come and check them out. We have a great array of books and magazines including the lastest monthly releases from Practical fish keeping from the UK and other US fish mags.

Please return any books you have borrowed, so others may use it.

If you have any enquires or suggestions please see the Librarian or use the Contact Us form on our website.

Members only Trade Table

A committee member will be only too willing to assist you with the purchase of all your dry goods needs. We had purchased some more food so it will be available this month. Clear Fish bags are also available for purchase at the trade table so these should be used instead of the bags with branding on if you plan to sell fish.

Please aim to make any purchases from the trade table at the start of the meeting and during the break, as the trade table will close before the auction starts.

Mini Auction

Both Members & Visitors are all eligible to bid on lots. Please remember a fast auction is a good auction so if we can please keep the noise down.

Also, there is a change in the check in process for those bringing auction lots, the doors will open 7:30pm. This is to assist Rosco (or whomever does it) with the data entry of auction lots into the auction spreadsheet. If at all possible could you please fill in your auction lots and number your bags before you get there to speed the process up and make it easier to keep up with what is happening. The forms are available on the website

Mini & August Major Raffle

Raffle tickets will be available to purchase for both the mini raffle and the July major raffle from the trade table before the meeting and during the break.

Breeders Award

Please hand in any breeder’s forms you have completed to get those all important points to get you closer to getting some of club sourced species.

For more information about the Breeders Award Program, visit the website

Species Conservation Project

Thus far the endlers and celestial danios have been very successful and a heap of fish have been added to the list.

For a full listing go to the web site -> http://drupal.cdas.org.au/content/species-conservation-project

The list has become quite large so we are now looking to add things in a more dynamic opportunistic fashion. This means if something uncommon and rare comes onto the wholesaler’s lists, the committee may just decide to add them. Still feel free to come and see one of the committee members at the break and we will see what we can do.

Sponsorship

If you know of anyone who would like to sponsor us (or you do yourself, you don’t even have to be in the aquarium industry) please contact one the committee at a meeting or via the Contact Us form -> http://drupal.cdas.org.au/contact

Tank Talk
