Last month Harry spoke his diving experiences and some mysteries of the deep like the blobfish, how cool was that freak of nature.
This month Mike (Skippy) will be talking about aquatic photography. He'll cover some general photography fundamentals, understanding the various settings on your cameras and some tips to hopefully lift your photographic strike rate.
The normal auction and raffle will take place again this month, so if you have excess healthy fish or a surplus of plants here is your opportunity to pass them on to other enthusiasts.
The mega raffle went off last month, with Paula taking home the fluid bed filter (kindly donated by Redtree Aquarium), with the winning ticket sold on the night. She will have to get back us with us how it goes, as I for one am curious how they work. Thanks to all those who have bought tickets. We ended up selling all the tickets, so a cool $200 was raised by that raffle. Raffles like these keep us going and go straight back into the club in order to provide services like the library, computer equipment and the like.
A big thanks goes out to Mike W (Mike's Fish) in Sydney, who kindly donated some Celestial Danio's (or galaxy rasbora's) for the conservation program. He sent them down to Rene and he has already managed to breed them. However, he was disappointed that he only saved 12 fry because he was treating them as a rasbora not a danio, LOL. Great work Rene your breeding ability never ceases to amaze me.
The AGM is fast approaching and Paula and Harry are standing down due to work commitments, so we need help otherwise the club will not run. So PLEASE approach one of the committee members and see if you can help us run the club next year. It is not very demanding, but as the saying goes "many hands make light work". There are only 5 of us running the show this year and if it drops to 3 it will be very hard to keep the club running smoothly.
So with all these benefits for members, why wouldn’t you want to be a member? So we can still offer member services like the trade table, library books purchases, magazine subscriptions and conservation program, please renew your membership or try to encourage your friends to join.
Keep those fish a swimming dancing
